Gobble, Gobble, y'all!

11.25.2009

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm in Vegas this year, so hopefully I won't lose too much money!

There are so many things I'm thankful for this year:

1. Getting back to my artistic roots by taking up figure drawing classes and creating several paintings for friends and family: Sea Shells

2. Spending time with friends and family in Destin, Kansas City, DC, Athens, and Minneapolis

3. Working hard for the money and the awards! A website for the GPS, RoadNut, won a SEED Award and is featured on Cool Homepages

4. Listening to the music. I got to see BB King, Stevie Wonder, Journey, The Whigs, Ben Harper, Paolo Nutini and Amos Lee.

5. Experiencing new restaurants in Atlanta for Girl's Supper Club. My favorite: Watershed

I can't wait for the 2009 holidays. This year has gone by way too fast! Hopefully I can catch up!

Don't Stop Believing

9.20.2009

It was wet and we were surrounded by old fogies who thought they were still living the dream listening to Night Ranger and Journey in their El Caminos (and yes someone did bring out their El Camino for the night). You can only imagine the type of crowd watching at the show.

I was expecting more Filipino pride at the concert, but I did spot a Filipino flag in the crowd...that'll do donkey! And I definitely thought I knew more Journey songs...not so much...and didn't know that they had a new album out. That could probably explain why I paid what? $20 to hear about 5 or 6 songs that I could actually belt out and one song that I could lose my voice to...Yes, Don't Stop Believing...

The Thrill is Gone

9.08.2009

I finally got to see BB King live! J. Wo and I got there late (due to the fact that we didn't know we were driving almost to Alabama to see him), but the 45 minutes we were there were great. Good wine, good food and good music!

I tried posting my voice memo on here, but there was an error so I found this 1970 performance on you tube.

I also got this pretty sweet poster designed by Hatch Show Print in Nashville, TN.

Mission Control: The Whigs

8.02.2009

Representin' Athens, GA! I had such a great time in Augusta listening to their new songs and drinking my Sparks and taking swigs of Evan Williams...yikes!!

The Heart of the Matter

7.08.2009

Love this song...thanks Don Henley....India Arie

I got the call today, I didnt wanna hear
But I knew that it would come
An old, true friend of ours was talkin on the phone
She said youd found someone
And I thought of all the bad luck,
And the struggles we went through
And how I lost me and you lost you
What are these voices outside loves open door
Make us throw off our contentment
And beg for something more?
Im learning to live without you now
But I miss you sometimes
The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I knew, Im learning again
Ive been tryin to get down
To the heart of the matter
But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think its about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you dont love me anymore
These times are so uncertain
Theres a yearning undefined
And people filled with rage
We all need a little tenderness
How can love survive in such a graceless age?
The trust and self-assurance that lead to happiness
Theyre the very things - we kill I guess
Pride and competition
Cannot fill these empty arms
And the work I put between us
You know it doesnt keep me warm
Im learning to live without you now
But I miss you, baby
And the more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought Id figured out
I have to learn again
Ive been trying to get down
To the heart of the matter
But everything changes
And my friends seem to scatter
But I think its about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you dont love me anymore
There are people in your life whove come and gone
They let you down you know they hurt your pride
You better put it all behind you baby; life goes on
You keep carryin that anger; itll eat you up inside, baby
Ive been trying to get down
To the heart of the matter
But my will gets weak
And my thought seem to scatter
But I think its about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you dont love me
Ive been tryin to get down
To the heart of the matter
Because the flesh will get weak
And the ashes will scatter
So Im thinkin about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you dont love me

Boogie on Reggae Woman...

6.25.2009

was unfortunately not heard at the Stevie Wonder concert I went to Wednesday night. I was so disappointed I wasn't able to hear my at-bat song live! But I did get to hear the rest of Stevie's number one songs...Part-Time Lover, Sir Duke, Uptight, Higher Ground, Signed, Sealed Delivered...the list goes on.

The concert was at the new Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, which was super nice, and not because it's a lot closer to home than Lakewood and Chastain. I just have to comment about the fluidity of the parking. We didn't have any stressful traffic, like Lakewood. Kudos to Verizon Wireless...you guys have great reception.

Stevie was diva-ish late, but apparently he was hanging out with an terminally-ill cancer patient, so it was hard not to be mad at him. The show was okay, but his music totally makes up for his performance so I wasn't upset. I don't know if I would go see him again, but I'm just glad I got to see him in my lifetime.

You are the Best Thing

10.19.2008

I officially heart Ray Lamontagne. I've always loved his music but last night was the first time I have ever seen him in concert and he was absolutely A-MAZING!! There are only two singers who can make me cry when they sing their beautiful music and Ray is one of them. Check out his new album, Gossip in the Grain. My favorite song right now: You are the Best Thing (first track on the album)

Here is Ray singing Trouble (Sorry I can't rotate the video...)

Friday night I went to my second Panic concert and it was a little different and much better! My first show was at Philips and this show was at Lakewood...a much better venue for dancing. Despite the rain and the mud I seemed to get my dance on without a worry in the world!

Look at me and all of my hippieness: long dress and barefoot!
