Toulouse Lautrec

3.10.2011

Some of my favorites from the Toulouse Lautrec exhibit at the High Museum.

Belle of the Ball

3.01.2011

This past February one of my good friends commissioned me to do a dog portrait of his girlfriend's dog, Belle. It was going to be part of his Valentine's Day gift for her. What a perfect Valentine's Day gift that she'll remember forever!

With that being said, I've officially opened up my own etsy shop for custom dog portraits! Visit my shop!

The Art of It All

3.30.2010

To add to the busy-ness that is my life at the moment, we've been having figure drawing class during our studio time on Monday nights. I guess this is more of relaxation time for me.

Last night was our last class so I decided to go all out and actually do a painting.
J. Wo has done several figure paintings for our class. This is my first figure painting. ha! I know I already signed it, but I think it's still a work in progress...her head might be too big for her body and I need to work on her right leg. Any other suggestions?

Reindeer Games

1.14.2010

It's long over due, but I'm just now getting around to uploading photos from my camera. Back in November, I attended the AIGA Ink and Drink event at the Atlanta Printmakers Studio to print my own holiday cards. I didn't want to ruin the surprise and reveal the cards since I hadn't mailed them out yet when I posted back in November, so now for the big reveal (sorry for the dramatization if you got one in the mail!)...

Nan Lawson Giveaway via oh, hello friend

1.12.2010

I love giveaways, but this one is especially cool! oh, hello friend is giving away a $30 gift certificate towards Nan Lawson's etsy page.

Nan Lawson has some great artwork. Shop for Nan Lawson's prints! I love the Hipster Kiss!

Merry Christmas to all!

1.01.2010

It's been a hectic holiday for me, so sorry if I have been MIA with the posts. I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I hope everyone's Christmas was fabulous and everyone got what they wanted. And even better, I hope everyone's start of 2010 is off to a great start. I know we all need a little hope and optimism in 2010.

What did everyone get for Christmas? Here are a couple of awesome gifts I got this year.

The Flip Mino HD so that I can record many great moments in 2010!

A new pet that lives in a lavarium. I still haven't named him yet. What should I call him?

A new addition to my owl fetish from Night Owl Paper Goods. This is Sylvia!

A Spanish cookbook with Mario Batali and Gwyneth Paltrow. The book takes them on their journey across the country tasting many of Spain's delicious foods. Look out for some of the recipes this year!

A Marc Tetro dog print of a "Beagle at the Beach" aka Murphy at the Beach. I love it!

My doggies have arrived!

12.17.2009

Kristin received her dog paintings yesterday and already put them up on her wall! She said she started crying when she opened them. I'm glad my art can make someone that happy, which is what it's intended to do!

Doggy Style

12.15.2009

I'm finally done with doggy style! :) Just a follow up to my Sammy, the Boston Terrier...here are the rest of the doggies!

Gobble, Gobble, y'all!

11.25.2009

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm in Vegas this year, so hopefully I won't lose too much money!

There are so many things I'm thankful for this year:

1. Getting back to my artistic roots by taking up figure drawing classes and creating several paintings for friends and family: Sea Shells

2. Spending time with friends and family in Destin, Kansas City, DC, Athens, and Minneapolis

3. Working hard for the money and the awards! A website for the GPS, RoadNut, won a SEED Award and is featured on Cool Homepages

4. Listening to the music. I got to see BB King, Stevie Wonder, Journey, The Whigs, Ben Harper, Paolo Nutini and Amos Lee.

5. Experiencing new restaurants in Atlanta for Girl's Supper Club. My favorite: Watershed

I can't wait for the 2009 holidays. This year has gone by way too fast! Hopefully I can catch up!

Happy (early) Halloween!

10.29.2009

Just wanted to go ahead and share my pumpkin masterpieces!

Hoot! Hoot!

Goooo Dawgs!!

The House Divided....That's my brother's perfectly cut Georgia Tech pumpkin. What a dork!?

Sammy the Boston Terrier

10.20.2009

Sammy is one of four dog paintings I'm working on! Sammy is just as funny as he looks!

Stay tuned for the other three pups!

Castleberry Hill Art Stroll

8.31.2009

I always love doing new things in Atlanta (TWSS) and last Friday night I did just that! A friend and I strolled to Castleberry Hill for their monthly art stroll. We walked around and went in and out of the galleries that had some pretty amazing artwork. Below were my two favorite. I wish I could afford their work for my future new house!

Sipping and Stroking

8.28.2009

For Jessica's birthday, Maggie and I took her on a new art adventure...Sips N Strokes! Sips N Strokes is a place where you can bring your own alcohol and food while you paint...definitely my kind of place. I probably did more sipping than stroking, but the sipping never hurts the stroking! Look at our wonderful masterpieces.

Letterpress time: Meg and Lee

1.26.2009

This past Saturday, Jessica and I printed wedding invitations (with matching envelopes!) for Meg and Lee. Jessica designed these with daisies and a color palette of buttercup yellow and a chartreuse–definitely a unique combination of colors that works perfectly for their summer wedding. The quality of the pictures are bad because the lighting in there wasn't very good.

Here is a video of Jessica in action:

When there is passion, there is violence...

1.14.2009

(?)

Apparently, my second drawing in this week's class exuded a sort of violent passion. You be the judge...

Is this really a figure drawing class or an artsy psycho-analysis class? But I guess you can really tell how a person's feeling or "figure" out their personality through their drawings or art or music. I really don't think I'm a violent person...passionate? I think I'm too laid-back to be passionate about something, but maybe I show my passion for something through drawing naked people instead of words? Or maybe this violent passion is coming through because I'm at a difficult time in my life? Who knows? It's really interesting how people read into just a simple 45 minute drawing of a man and woman and psycho analyze your whole relationship with a significant other.

We won't have class next week because of MLK, so you will have to wait for two weeks to read about my next analysis.

Strike a Pose

1.06.2009

My first new year's resolution is on it's way: taking more art classes to get back to my roots as an artist. I feel as being a graphic designer, I have been pulled away from the hands-on experience as an artist.

Jessica, Wendy and I signed up for Figure Drawing Classes at the Abernathy Arts Center. We took our first class this week and will be doing this once a week for the next 7 weeks!

Stay posted for more drawings...hopefully they get better as I go!

One little piggie...

11.17.2008

Recently my boss, Kriston, created items for her church's holiday bazaar... look at how cute these hand-made animals are!

Sophia, the life-size doll

10.27.2008

In light of it being Halloween week, I wanted to share with you the Halloween costume of my cousin's daughter in the Philippines. They are always so creative with her costumes for Halloween and this year she is a doll in a box. How awesome is this? Very clever!

All Dogs Go to Heaven

3.03.2008

I had created a painting of Hunley, Justin's bagle (Beagle/Basset Hound), for a personal gift one Christmas and since then I've gotten requests of other people's dogs. Here are some that I've just finished:
